Replacing your iPaq battery | |
|
All details below are provided free of charge for both customers and non customers. No liability is accepted for any damage or data loss resulting from the misuse of this information. Included with the battery is a No 6 Torx screwdriver, you will also need a small flat screwdriver. We do not advise using a knife as this is more likely to cause internal damage, you may find it handy to have two or three different sized small screwdrivers available. If you wish to retain any data on your iPaq you must back this up prior to replacing the battery. If the battery is flat then you will probably have already lost your data as the iPaq does not contain a backup battery. To replace the battery please follow the following instructions carefully:
Do not insert the screwdriver any further into the iPaq than is needed to loosen the cover!
IMPORTANT - before replacing the battery inspect the old battery carefully for bubbles on the surface. If present these are a sign of overcharging, which indicates a fault on the iPaq. Damage to batteries caused by overcharging is not covered by warranty, and if any bubbles are present we advise that you do not install the new battery until you have had the iPaq repaired.
Replacement batteries are shipped partially charged, we suggest that once you have replaced the battery you should charge the iPaq for at least three hours before use. Two small components occasionally fall out of place when you open the iPaq. These are the cover for the battery disable switch on the bottom of the machine, and the latch which retains the stylus. Make sure if these do fall out you replace them before replacing the cover.
